Grade 6 - Sound to Sea
Ms. Kristy Priest will lead sixth grade students on a trip to the North Carolina coast on Friday morning, Feb. 3, 2012. The bus will return to Asheboro on Sunday evening, Feb. 5, 2012. The cost for this trip will be $195-$225. (We will know the exact cost after we charter the bus.) Sixth graders will visit the NC Maritime Museum at Beaufort, the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, and Fort Macon. They will spend most of the trip exploring coastal environments through hands-on activities in the Sound to Sea program at Trinity Conference Center. Trinity Center provides cabin lodging and family-style meals on their 62-acre campus in Salter Path where they have both beach and sound fronts. Past programs have included squid dissection, Native American lore, exploring marine and land life on both the beach and in the sound, and many other outside/hands-on sessions. The trip fee covers lodging, transportation, meals at Trinity Center, and admission to all sites and activities. We will charter a bus for this trip. Although students will have an excused absence from school for Friday, Feb. 3, they will still be expected to make up any missed work. For more information about this trip, contact Kristy Priest or see the Sixth Grade Trip page on our website.

This confidence-building trip is great for students who love being outside, enjoy physical activity, and have an interest in wildlife and the natural environment.
